FABricate Winners
Three University of Georgia students earned $5,000 to bring their sweet business plan to fruition thanks to the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ FABricate entrepreneurship challenge. 
Madison Hickey, a senior majoring in agricultural communication, is serving as a legislative intern with the Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee as part of the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' legislative internship program. She will spend 12 weeks working with the committee, which is chaired by Sen. John Wilkinson. CAES News

If the world’s going to double its food supply by 2050, it’s not going to happen without genetically modified crops. That was the hard-line taken by molecular biologist Nina Fedoroff at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' signature D.W. Brooks Lecture on Nov. 7, 2017.
The 2017 Golden Radish Award ceremony was attended by over 330 school nutrition leaders, school administrators, teachers and farm-to-school supporters from across the state of Georgia to celebrate excellence in farm-to-school programs. Golden Radish
Georgia’s agriculture, education and public health departments, University of Georgia Cooperative Extension and Georgia Organics came together at the historic Georgia Railroad Freight Depot to celebrate Georgia school districts with outstanding farm-to-school programs. Seventy-five school districts, serving more than one million students, are now participating in farm-to-school programs. These districts served more than 97 million school meals with local food items during the 2016-17 school year.

Irrigation Outreach
As part of an irrigation efficiency study by University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, a 29-person team of social scientists, agricultural economists, climatologists, agricultural engineers and UGA Extension agents from the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is studying agricultural irrigation in order to increase the water-use efficiency in row crops common to southern Georgia.
