As part of a regional tour facilitated by Georgia’s Rural Center, a delegation from the Czech Republic visited the UGA Tifton Campus. During their visit the delegation met with Drs. Jennifer Tucker and Luan Oliveira to get an overview of the campus and learn about new and emerging technologies being utilized as part of their research and Extension programs in their respective areas.
Dr. Tucker, Associate Professor of Animal and Dairy Science, discussed the use of GPS trackers, cellular based water monitoring, and virtual fencing in livestock-forage systems. Dr. Oliveira, Assistant Professor and Precision Ag Specialist in Horticulture, demonstrated his work with remote sensing, robotics, and drones, and his award-winning Spray Drone Dock, a mobile platform for refueling, recharging, and chemical mixing for spray drones.
Take pics with each of the dawgs around Tifton and post at least one photo to social media with the hashtag #NiftyTifty.
When you're done, follow the paw prints to NESPAL South (Pal's home) on the UGA Tifton campus and pick up your FREE {squishy} DAWG BONE.
